svpa Faculty show
August 24 to September 19
This annual exhibition provides an opportunity for students and the Warrensburg community to learn about the latest creative research undertaken by faculty members in the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The exhibition showcases the breadth of expertise available to UCM students in all areas of Art & Design. Visitors to the show will see works of painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, and more. After the reception on August 24, plan to head to the UTT Music building for the Provost’s Faculty Showcase.
Protuding Pigments
A solo exhibition by Sammie Jane Hardewig
October 5 to November 2
Sammie Jane Hardewig is a painter with an MFA from the University of Kansas. Her studio practice hyper-fixates on the materiality of reclaimed house paint. In her work, Hardewig eschews the metaphorical function of paint, choosing instead to make the physicality of the paint be the work. She is interested in discovering how self-sufficient this material can be while allowing material agency and the opportunity to fail or prevail.
