In or Out: Perspectives in Fiber
August 19 to September 14, 2024
Together with the Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma Region of the Studio Art Quilts Association (SAQA), the UCM Gallery of Art & Design presents a juried exhibition of contemporary art quilts. Speaking of the artists in this
show, Juror, Janeen Mason, says they “blend traditional quilting techniques with innovative approaches, resulting in artworks that challenge, inspire, and captivate.

2024 Faculty Show
September 30 to October 26
This annual exhibition provides an opportunity for students and the Warrensburg community to learn about the latest creative research undertaken by faculty members in the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The exhibition showcases the breadth of expertise available to UCM students with works of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, graphic design, interior design, illustration, and bookmaking as well as examples from music, theater and dance. All events are open to the public.

Meet-the-Artists Reception Wednesday, October 23, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Second Nature is an exhibition about the work and working methods of scientist artist, Gary Staab. Staab is a self-taught artist who makes phenomenal, life-like models of creatures that haunt natural history museum displays and captivate our imagination Second Nature peers behind the scenes into Staab's creative process. You get a chance to find out what it takes to create an accurate model of a creature that no longer exists. Staab's scientific models can be seen in museums, private collections, visitors’ centers, books, and film.

Reception & Meet and Greet: January 8, 5:00 to 6:30 pm.
Gallery Kids
Children ages 5 -15 are invited to the Gallery of Art & Design and UCM Art Education students for a Saturday morning of creativity and art. Programs are based around a theme related to the current exhibition and every participant will leave with a unique work of art that they created. Gallery Kids takes place twice per semester.
Participation is limited to 15 children. Pre-registration is required. Call for information. 660-543-4498

Monday – Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Thursday: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
Saturdays: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Please contact the gallery for schedule.)
Also open by appointment. Group and school tours available. (Public welcome and encouraged to visit.)
Directions
The University of Central Missouri is located in Warrensburg, which is 50 miles southeast of Kansas City at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Missouri Highway 13.
From the north via Interstate 70
From Interstate 70 East, take Hwy 13 (Exit 49, Warrensburg-Higginsville). Travelers using Interstate 70 West, will also take Exit 49 to access Hwy 13. Drive south to Warrensburg, about 16 miles. Stay on Hwy 13, which becomes Maguire, the main north-south street through Warrensburg. Continue on Maguire to Broad Street. You will see a sign that says the University of Central Missouri. Continue on past Broad Street to the next traffic light, or Clark Street. Make a right hand turn onto campus. The Gallery of Art & Design is located in the Art Center, one block west of Maguire Street.
Parking
The campus has two visitor parking lots, both off Maguire. For the north lot, turn west on South Street; it is the second driveway to the south. For the south lot, turn west on Clark Street; the lot is at the intersection of Clark and Holden. Both have red-topped attendant’s booths that help visitors locate the lots. Parking is free to visitors. All lots are available for parking after 5pm on the Weekdays, and all day on the Weekends. Accessible parking is available behind the Art Center. The entrance to the accessible lot is off Maguire. Turn west into the driveway between South Street and Clark Street.
